And she felt that familar sting. The hard cold smack on her face, the one she always ducked away from, even as hands came up to embrace her. Because she had learned to expect it, knew it would always eventually be there. So when it came this time, there was little surprise. This time she turned her face towards it and let her soul absorb the shock. Her soul had become the memory. And that nagging voice was entertained briefly. A millisecond….just long enough for her to be reminded that her demons had teeth…
