What do you say when it’s time to say goodbye?

What do you say to a friend who has been there for every major milestone in your life? One who has seen you through marriage and divorce? Through countless moves into new homes, some amazing places that made you feel like you’d finally made it and some that made you cry and feel like a failure…

What do you say to that friend who has never judged you? only loved you? never once looked disappointed when you came home too late or too tipsy?

What do you say to the friend that laid by your side at your weakest? who listened as you cried, who planted soft kisses on your face when everyone else had left you? What do you say to the friend that sat quietly by your side when you contemplated leaving the earth because the despair in your heart was so deep that the very act of breathing felt like a chore?

What do you say to the friend that sat on the bathroom floor as you threw up over and over again from one mishap or illness? What do you say to the friend who never left your side when your sight was temporarily taken from you, who provided you solace  when no one else could?

What do you say to the friend that made you smile and warmed your heart with silly antics? The friend that caused you to laugh at their acute absurdity? What do you say to the friend that stayed behind when your children spread their wings and left the nest and your husband decided he wanted a divorce and you were alone in 4000 square feet of bitter sweet memories?

What do you say to the friend that stood with you in that empty house as you looked around for the last time knowing your life had forever changed? Who never, not once ever gave you a moment of negativity or selfishness? Who only wanted love in return?

What do you say when it’s time to say goodbye?

      1. I have a lot 🙂 She was a very “bitchy~ I rule the house” kinda girl. I adopted a rescue pitbull and was terrified at first of them acclimating to each other, my pit was used as a bait dog so she is very aggressive, but I couldn’t leave her In the shelter, so I brought her home to Fatty…and fatty didn’t back down at all, in fact put my pup in her place and ruled her too! I always loved her fearless attitude. Thank you Josie for asking about her. You are very thoughtful!

      2. aw she sounds fearless, like mine lol. I think its a girl cat thing. And don’t mention it, I was genuinely interested. peace and love your way ❤
